“The Amazing: Dr. Clitterhouse” At Plaza

A doctor’s life of crime for research into psychological effect on criminals ftJrms the plot for “The Amazing Dr, Clitterhouse.”

This film, together with “Sing Ac You Swing” was screened at the Plaza Theatre last evening and will be offered again tonight. Dr. Clitterhouse (Edward G. Robinson) is a noted doctor who is interested in the effect of crime on criminals, but, lacking material on which to .work, conducts a series of jewel robberies.

Ultimately he makes contact with a receiver of stolen property (Claire Trevor) and her gang and in return fcr his services conducts his experiments on the gangsters. Operating on a large scale he meets with success but arouses the enmity of one of the gang (Humphrey Bogart) who, when the doctor retires with his studies completed, tracks him down. As a final experiment the doctor murders him, and in turn falls into the hands of the police.

The associate feature introduces a number of stars of English and American radio in song and dance entertainment.
