Whangarei District Hospital
THE opening of the new ward and the reconstructed portion of the Whangarei District Hospital yesterday afternoon was an event of more than passing interest. It was the outward sign of the growth that has taken place in Whangarei during recent years, and of the increased importance of the institution as a centre of healing for the people of a large district. The reputation of the Whangarei District Hospital is one of which any l hospital m!ight well be proud. It is for this reason that those who need surgical treatment of a high standard endeavour to gain admission to the institution, which has a fine record in the successful treatment of the large number of patients who pass through its wards every year. The Medical Superintendent, Dr. J. W. Hall, during a longassociation with the hospital, has, by reason of his skill, been largely responsible for the good name which the institution has earned, and he has been ably assisted by devoted assistantsuperintendents and nursing staffs, who have also earneci distinction in other hospitals to which they have gone. These facts were emphasised very deservedly yesterday, and we would like to associate ourselves with the congratulations extended, and with the good wishes expressed for the future success of what is a truly national institution.
