Battle Between Warships, Bombers

(Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, November 29

Anti-aircraft and machine-gun fire was heard from batteries along the Thames Estuary.

Aeroplanes were not heard, but later several R.A.F. machines appeared. Air raid warnings were not sounded. An Oslo cable states that the Admiralty reports that a coastguard on Stadland Island saw a battle to-day between warships and bombers just outside territorial waters.

Heavy gunfire was heard from the south.
