Plenty Of Oranges, Marketing Dept. Says

I Special to “Northern Advocate ”l AUCKLAND, This Day.

Although there have been no oranges on the Auckland City markets this week, supplies throughout the North Island are ample, and retailers are well stocked, according to officials of the Internal Marketing Department.

The first shipment of Jamaican oranges of the season has arrived, but to ensure that there will be an adequate supply to meet the Christmas demand, these fruits are being held in cool store for the time being. The first will be released probably some time this week, the shops having enough Australian oranges to carry on with in the meantime.

At present ripe bananas arc very scarce.

All fruit is very dear and there is little prospect of prices being lower at Christmas, as they normally rise at that time.
