Waste Of Money On Clay Road Alleged
An allegation of waste of money on a clay road at Mata Hill, Mangapai, was made in a letter received by the Whangarei County Council today.
“Some time last summer I wrote concerning waste of rate-money on a clay road passing my place,” wrote Mr J. H. Carter. “I think it worth while someone looking at the road, as it seems you didn’t believe what I told you when the grader was working here. j “We had the road rounded up' and ditches opened, so that it was possible to drive a motor there nearly all the year, but it hasn’t been fit for a motor since the money was spent on it.” ”1 hardly understand what he means,” said the engineer (Mr J. Norris). The chairman (Mr J. A. S. Mac Kay): We don’t want to spend money on destroying roads. The question was referred to the riding member and the engineer.
