IPcr Press Association. Copyright ] WELLINGTON. This Day.
A hulk-keeper, Mr A. N. Briggs, employed 'on the hulk Alameda by the Westport Coal Company, is reported missing. His wife, who lives ashore, expected him home yesterday morning for provisions, and became anxious.
She watched the hulk with glasses and saw no sign of life, so telegraphed to the company.
A tug went out and found a launch tied to the boarding-ladder, indicating that it had been got ready for Mr Briggs to leave. In it were Mr Briggs’s hat and jacket.
