High Prices For Pigs At Kamo

Walter Wakelin reports having held his weekly sale of cattle and pigs at Kamo yesterday. Large entries of both classes were submitted to lajge attendance of buyers. Competition was keen for dairy stock and pigs, while bulls, beef and store cattle changed hands at satisfactory prices. The top price for dairy cows was £lO 10/ obtained by Mr McCardle, of Kamo, for a choice Jersey cow close to calving. In the pig section, prices were extremely high, weaners making as much as £1 16/, this price being paid for pigs on account of Mr W. J. Bell, of Kauri. Dairy cattle: Springing cows made from £5 10/ to £lO 10/; springing Jersey heifers, £4 10/ to £7 17/C; Shorthorn cows, £4 to £8 10/; Shorthorn heifers, £5 to £6 10/; Holstein heifers, £5 5/ to £6 10/; cows and heifers in milk, £3 10/ to £B. Bulls: Two-year Jersey bulls, £6 to £l2 12/; three-year Jersey bulls, £6 to £8 10/; yearling Jersey bulls, £3 10/ to £66/; yearling Ayrshire bulls, to £6 6/; three or four-year Shorthorn bulls, £5 to £8; yearling Shorthorn bulls, £2 15/ to £4; boner bulls, £4 to £7 10/.

Beef and store cattle: Fat steers, to £ll 10/; fat cows, £5 15/ to £8; forward cows, £3 10/ to £4 7/6; store cows, £3 10/ to £4; boner cows, £2 to £3 6/; potter cows, £1 5/ to £2 2/; two-year Shorthorn steers, to £4 10/; yearling Shorthorn steers, £2 10/ to £3 5/; three-year steers, to £6 10/. An entry of 150 yearling heifers met with a good demand and sold from £2 15/ to £4 2/; yearling m.s. Shorthorns sold from £2 to £2 10/; yearling P.A. heifers, to £3; cows and calves, £3 10/ to £6; two-year S.H. heifers, £3 5/ to £4. Pigs: Baconers, £3 to £3 17/; heavy porkers, £2 12/ to £3 3/; light porkers, £1 18/ to £2 11/; large stores, £2 2/ to £2 13/; medium stores, £1 16/ to £2 4/; slips, £1 16/ to £2 2/; best weaners, £1 7/ to £1 16/; medium weaners, £1 2/ to £1 7/; small weaners, 15/ to £l2/; choppers, to £2 15/; breeding sows, £4 to £6; sows with litters, £2 10/ to £8 1.0/. A pen of m.s. hoggets realised 6/9; empty ewes, 9/.
