Planes Chase Peasant Women In Fields
(Received 3.0 p.m.) PARIS, September 15. The “New York Times” correspondent at Krzemienice says German bombers are ravaging the country, murdering women and children. Open towns, added the correspondent, suffered most from the “atrocious, senseless and wanton bombings.” Hundreds of civilians were killed when an evacuation train was halted by severe bombing. Eye-witnesses describe German ’planes chasing peasant women working in the fields. Machine-gunning private motor cars has become the favourite pastime of Nazi pilots. The Warsaw radio announced that the “lost army” from the Polish Corridor entered Warsaw amid frantic acclamations. They will help in the city’s defence.
