Severe Decline On Wall Street
NEW YORK, September 16
The stock market today recorded the most severe decline since the war boom began. Leading issues, notably steel, rubber and motor car shares, fell three dollars.
Heavy profit-taking followed speeches against the modification of the neutrality laws, and traders lightened their commitments pending a clarification of the situation in Congress on Thursday. Turnover on Friday on the New York Stock Exchange was 1,590,000 shares, against 2.010.000 on Thursday.
