If the Centennial funds did not yield the anticipated return, the various district memorial schemes would have to bo somewhat curtailed.

However, the borough scheme had been prepared before the present situation arose.

VVcrk to Proceed. It was decided that the council should proceed with work on the three specified memorials to the extent which funds would permit. An application from the North Auckland Baseball Association for the use of Kensington Park for a gala day in connection with Centennial celebrations on Labour Day. October 23. was .granted. A further application from the association for the use of the park throughout the summer months was referred to the legal and finance committee with power to act.
