Shortage of Flour is Unlikely

[Per Press Association. Copyright .] WELLINGTON, This Day.

The appointment of a controller, with power to regulate, restrict, control or prohibit the distribution of wheat, oats, bairley l , pollaijd, bran, flour or bread its provided for in the regulations gazetted last night. The extension of control to barley and oats would become necessary in the event of a shortage of wheat.

A statement issued yesterday was to the effect that there was no shortage of wheat or flour at present, nor was there likely to be such a shortage.

For sortie time past the Wheat Committee had been building up stocks of wheat for emergency use, and there was today sufficient wheat in New Zealand for all purposes: to last until the end of March, 1940, without-using any of the new crop, the harvesting of which will commence in January.
