The “Manchester Guardian,” in a leading article, says that conciliation v/as open to the end, but Herr Hitler would have none of it. “Now v/ar’s darkness has fallen, broken only by occasional flashes of vital news.
“Nothing can give us more confidence,’ ’it says, “than the manner in ;which, in these last days, Parliament has represented the spirit of the people. “It has been a great justification of democratic principle.”
