Seacoast Conflict
There has been particularly heavy fighting in the neighbourhood of Danzig and Gdynia. A Berlin news agency report claims tha,t the cruiser Schleswig bombarded and. captured the Westerplauo munitions 'depot, near the entrance to Danzig harbour. A Polish General Staff communique
issued .in Warsaw, however, claims Sc that the Poles have captured two Gentian armoured trains and that
Westerplatte is still being defended and Hel Peninulsa guarded. The short-wave radio station at Warsaw this morning broadcast Marshal Smigly-Ridz’s salutation to the heroic garrison at Westerplatte, in repelling four German attacks.
/ “Poland expects you to hold the forts to the last,” he said.
