Coster - Yearbury
Christ Church, Whangarei. was the scene of a pretty wedding on the afternoon of July 8, when Gladys Mary, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Ernest Yearbury, of Tikipunga, Whangarei, was married to Mr Harold Coster, late of Dargaville. Archdeacon H. T. Steele performed
the ceremony in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends of the bride and bridegroom, among whom were the girls of the Glenbervie basketball team, of which the bride was a member.
The bride chose a beautiful gown of ivory georgette over satin. The bodice, shirred at the front was finished at the back to the waist with tiny satin buttons. A double string of pearls and a spray of orange blossom were worn. The skirt.was cut in three-cornered style, and was caught up by two sprays of orange blossom, the back falling into a long graceful train. A beautiful embroidered veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom, and, flowing down, formed a second train. The bride carried an all-white bouquet composed of sweet peas, carnations and roses, and she made a charming picture as she entered the church on the arm of her father. In attendance as bridesmaids were the Misses Emily and Doris Yearbury, sisters of the bride. They were gowned in frocks of crinkle georgette over satin made on the same lines as the bride’s, in shades of blue and pink respectively. They wore short blue and pink veils over halos of pink and blue, and they carried dainty bouquets of pink sweet peas and blue irises. The bridegroom was attended by Mr C. Yearbury as best man, and Mr M. Green was groomsman. Following the ceremony, about 70 guests attended the wedding breakfast at the “Balmoral” tearooms, Whangarei. To receive her guests, Mrs Yearbury, mother of the bride, wore a smart black costume with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of red carnations.
Tlie usual toasts were honoured and the bride cut the cake, which had been beautifully iced by a sister of the bridegroom. After the breakfast, the bride and groom left by car for a brief honeymoon in Auckland. Their future home will be in Paparoa.
