[Per Press Association. — Copyright .] WELLINGTON, This Day. Three people were injured when two trams, travelling in opposite directions, collided in Wellington yesterday, at the junction of Stout Street and Lambton Quay. The injured, who were all taken to hospital, were: Mr R. Mead, of 54 Wellington Road; severe wound over the right eye, and an injury to the left arm. Cara Taylor, aged 15, of Lower Hutt; concussion. Mr Charles Down, motorman, of 290 Queen's Drive; injuries to the lip and nose. Their condition last night was not serious.
Temporary State Employees [Per Press Association. Copyright. 1 WELLINGTON, This Day. A reply to a statement recently issued by the Federation of Labour concerning temporary State employees was made yesterday by the Secretary of the New Zealand Association of Temporary Public Servants, Mr Underwood. “The circumstances in which the statement by the federation had been made give striking proof of how misunderstandings between that body and an organisation of workers can be caused by the federation's failure to consult workers in question. The executive is perfectly well aware of the statements made by Mr Walsh and Mr Pharazyn, of the Clerks’ Union, in connection with the activites of the association of temporary public servants and certain of its officers. Time will prove the authenticity of such statements.”
It was not proposed that the association would reply fully to the federation’s statement until it had been discussed at a general meeting to be held within the next fortnight.
