Rail Traffic Pleases General Manager

Mackley, said yesterday that he was very pleased with the way the people were responding to the use of the Napier-Wairoa section of the East Coast railway. Freight traffic was being maintained at a very satisfactory volume. The j figures for passenger traffic were also 1 highly satisfactory. | Mr Mackley commented also on the | railcar service between Wellington I and New Plymouth. Although this was i - the slackest time of the year, the figures for passenger traffic were quite satisfactory, and the standard type railcars operating between Wellington and Taranaki were being well patronised. •
