Whangarei P.W.M.U. Annual Meeting
There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Presbyterian Women’s Mission Union when reports showed a successful year’s work. The subjects studied during the period were varied and interesting, and included Temple Gairdner, of Cairo; Mildred Cable and Prancisca French, of the Gobi; Samuel Marsden; work in the Turakina College for Maori Girls; work in the Solomon Islands and Home Mission work at Tokomaru Bay. Visiting speakers were the Moderator, Rev. T. E. Riddle, and Mrs W. J. Court. New Personnel
The following executive was elected; President, Mrs W. Elliott; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames G. E. Sharnian and R, Tudehope; secretary, Miss M. S. Littlejohn; treasurer, Mrs J. N. McCarroll; box work. Mrs A. E. L. Scott; oriental work, Mrs J. A. Inkster; arrowroot secretary, Mrs S. N. Going; Maori' Mission Birthday League, Mrs A. N. Weaver; correspondence secretary, Mrs F. D. Kenworthy; Busy Bees’ leader, Mrs L. M. Sands; Harvest Field secretary, Mrs L, W. Waldron; mission box committee. Miss F. Weaver (convener), Mesdames F. H. Keeble and T. V. Hargreaves; sales table, Mesdames C. V. Kerr and G. G. Hawken; tea convener, Mrs C. V. Kerr; pianist, Mrs J. C. Ishei wood. Interest Keen The secretary’s report showed that there is a total membership of 60, and that a keen interest is being taken by members in all branches of the work.
The attendance at the meetings has been very good. Mrs Elliott thanked all for their co-operation, and was presented with a beautiful bouquet by Miss Littlejohn on behalf of the members. It was decided to entertain all senior members of this branch at a social afternoon on July 26, when birthday greetings would be conveyed to those who have reached the allotted span.
