Jubilee Dance At Maungatapere
The presence of more than 120 couples made the dance in the Maungatapere Hall on Wednesday night, as part of the hall jubilee celebrations, a distinct success. The gathering included a large contingent from Whangarei and many visitors from outlying districts, and the bright spirit prevailing ensured that all present thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Messrs U. W. Ellis, H. Gunson and F. O'. Armstrong were MlC.’s, while music was supplied by an orchestra consisting of Mrs McLennan (piano), and Messrs J. Dobson (cornet), R. Leckie (saxophone) and M. Stewart (drums).
During the evening a letter of apology was read from Mr G. Spick, now of Faparoa, whp was one of the contractors for the pit-sawing of the timber from which the hall was built 50 years ago.
