Increase In Value Of Auckland Trotting Cup

[Special to “Northern Advocat'd AUCKLAND. This Day.

In pursuance of its progressive policy, the committee of the Auckland Trotting Club has decided to increase the value of the next Auckland Cup to £ISOO. including a gold cup worth £IOO.

The committee has also applied for permission to call the race the Auckland Centennial Trotting Gold Cup. The event will be run during the Christmas holidays.

Jockey’s Home Entered. While the former Taranaki jockey, Maurice McCarten, was in Brisbane recently burglars broke into his homo in Sydney. A man was engaged to watch the house and noticed a broken window, whereupon he secured the assistance of another person and they entered the house. They disturbed tv/o intruders, one of whom pointed a revolver at. them and immediately made off, later.it was found that the house had been ransacked and clothes, furs, field glasses and other articles were packed ready for removal.
