Croquet President’s Double Bridge Function

A well-attended and successful bridge afternoon and evening arranged by Mrs J. Walker, newly-elected president of the Whangarei Croquet Club, was held at the homo of her daughter-in-law, Mrs A. Walker. A total of 128 players took part. The rooms were beautifully decorated and log fires and concealed heaters provided for the comfort of the guests and created a cheerful appearance in contrast to the weather conditions outside. Mrs J. Walker wore chartreuse green silk velvet and Mrs A. Walker ruby ring velvet. The leading players in the afternoon session were Mrs W. Hodsell and Mrs Gillibrand, while in the evening Mr and Mrs Garnet Keane, senr., won the prizes.
