Surprise Party At Portland

Before her return to Hawera, a number of Portland ladies surprised Mrs Basil Pole with a bridge party at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs T. H. Wilson. A very happy evening was spent, five tables being engaged in play The winners were Mrs Pat Colvin and Mrs W. Lupton.

Among the players were Mrs T. H. Wilson, Mrs Turner (Auckland), Mrs T. Waren (Warkworth), Mrs F. M. Cox, Mrs R. S. Williams, Mrs W. V. Williams, Mrs A. Neal, Mrs A. C. Whitham, Mrs E. Arthur, Mrs K. V. Wilson, Mrs G. F. Peters, Mrs R. C. McLaren, Mrs W. Lupton, Mrs Pat Colvin, Mrs T, Adams, Mrs B. Pole, Mrs Fred Boyd, Mrs L. McLean, Mrs S. Naylor and Miss Betty Wilson.
