(Received 2 p.m.) DUBLIN, July 19, James Bruen, the young Irish amateur, still holds his lead in the Irish open golf championship, but his advantage after the second round is only one stroke. Hi's first round of 60 created a new record for the Royal County Down course, but in his next effort he required 74. Bobby Locke, last year’s winner, is seven strokes behind the leader, with a total of 147. The feature of the second round was the performance oE R. A. Whitcombe, last year’s British open championship winner, who carded a 69, the best of the day.

White, 76, 69—145; Rhodes, 74, 72—146; J. Fallon, 72, 74 —146; Bradshaw, 72, 75—147; A. D. Locke, 74, 73—147; Bullock, 72, 76—148; Sheals, 74, 74—148; Large, 73, 75—148; A. G. Padgham, 75, 74—149; M. Faulkner, 75, 74—149; J. Baillieu, 75, 7‘4 —149; J. C. Carr, 75, 74—149. The second round was played in drenching rain and a harassing wind.
