Valedictory At Opekeno Hall

Lifelong residents of the Mangakahia, Mr ,and Mrs Ray Alexander and family, who are leaving the district, were farewelled at the Opokeno Hall last Thursday night. There was ,a large attendance. Mr Alexander was born in the district, and is highly respected by all who know him. He was engaged in the timber industry, and took an active interest in the Sports Club. Mrs Alexander also was reared in the district and took an interest in local affairs, being very popular. i During the evening, Mr T, N. Blake, ; cn behalf of the residents, spoke j highly of the departing couple, and presented Mrs Alexander with a handsome handbag, and Mr Alexander with a wallet and a substantial cheque as a token of the esteem in which they wore held. Mr F. Platt also spoke in praise oE Mr Alexander's work on the executive of the Sports Club.
