Unlicensed Radio Sets

The necessity for having a license when installing a radio set is not as well known as it should be. Neither do a number of people realise that the licensing authority is advised, or is supposed to be advised, when .a radio dealer disposes of a set to any particular person. With this information, and a system of inspection, anyone who has an unlicensed radio set in his house runs a big risk of being brought before a magistrate and fined. As fines invariably carry costs, a high price can be paid for the privilege of getting entertainment and instruction over the air. At the Magistrate’s Court. Kaitaia, on Friday, the following were fined £1 and costs for having unlicensed radio receiving sets: Archibald Murray Morice, Basil Silva. Robin Simeon, and Rapata Williams. Harriet Te Paa was fined 10/- and costs.
