Improved Demand Oh ’Change
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day.
Improved demand for .a wide range Of securities listed on the Auckland Stock Exchange this morning. In Australian industrials, bank and insurance shares, and Government stock, were all quoted firmer. In spite of higher bids, holders, appeared reluctant to sell, and only one sale was made at the call, although there was a fair list of reported business. The single sale was in Consolidated Brick at a drop of 7d, but reported transactions were all at firm rates. Goldsbrough Morts., although 1/6 be- 1 low the price at the alst sale in May, showed improvement on recent ex dividend quotations.
Broken Hill Pty., and Eelctrolytic J Zincs had the highest buyers for some| time at £3 9/6 and £2 12/6 respec-| lively, while Colonial Sugars and G.| J. Coles were marked up slightly. J Buyers moved up to £1 18/6 for Bank of New Zealands sellers asking j 3d more while Commercials had a | stronger market between 16/7 and f 16/11. Insurance issues and most of I the 4 per cent Government stock? shared in the general improvement. *,
