’Change’s Slightly Improved Tone

[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Though still dull, the Auckland Stock Exchange had a slightly improved tone this morning. A moderate list of sales was put through at the first call, and quotations for Australian securities showed a better tone. There was inquiry for a fair range of New Zealand industrials mostly based on recent valuations. In the banking section, Australians sold 5/- cheaper at £9, after which buyers dropped out, leaving unsupported sellers at £9 5/-. New Zealands were .at a lower ’ level, with quotations from 38/6 to 38/9. Gas shares improved with buyers moving up to 16/8. In the miscellaneous division, Myers’ Emporiums had a market between 30/- and 32/3. Government stocks were steady at late rates. Sales completed at the noon call were as follows: A.C.1., £1 16/3; Consolidated brick, 9/6; stock, 15/2/43-46, 4 per cent, £9B 10/-.
