New York Judge Guilty Of Taking Bribes

(Received 12.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 10. Martin Manton, former Chief Justice of New York State, was found guilty rjecently of (having (accepted bribes to influence his judicial decisions. It was alleged that he Wad accepted thousands of dollars in bribes disguised as loans. ' * His co-defendant, George M, Spector, w ! as also found guilty, Manton is the highest ranked judicial officer ever to have been placed on trial in the United States. He immediately gave notice of appeal. His application for a new trial will be heard on June 20.
