(Received 1.30 p.m.)
LONDON, June 12
SENSATION WAS CAUSED AT A DINNER GIVEN BY THE DANZIG SENATE IN HONOUR OF GENER AL LUTZE, HEAD OF THE GERMAN STORM TROOPERS, BY THE ARREST OF TWO HIGH SENATE OFFICIALS, AT THE TABLE.
The Nazi leaders, on sitting down, were shocked to discover leaflets, denouncing the Nazi regime and Herr Hitler, attached to the menus. General Lutze had intended to remain for 24 hours, but left immediately, highly annoyed.
To save their machines falling into the hands of the Germans, three Slovak bombers were landed at Debl in, says a message from Warsaw. Pilots confirm German troop concentrations in Slovakia, bordering on Poland.
Prussians Demonstrate Against Poles.
As Herr Hitler arrived in Vienna unexpectedly last night to attend a “Gei’man theatre week,” German troops were reported to be concentrating on the Polish frontier in Northern Slovakia, and building fortifications.
A Slovak delegation, which is negotiating a new trade agreement, is staying at the same hotel as Herr Hitler. The Danzig Nazis’ week-end celebrations in Danzig w r ound up last night, with a parade of 2000 Danzig Storm Troopers and 6000 from East Prussia, says the Australian Associated Press. This was the first time the East Prussians had exercised in Danzig. The joint display was obviously intended as a demonstration against Poland.
Property Seized
In retaliation for the recent confiscation of German nationals’ homes in Polish Silesia, the German; secret police seized the headquarters of the Polish minority in Ratibor, which they presented to the Hitler Youth Movement. The Polish Government has rejected the Danzig Nazi Senate’s demand for a reduction in the number of Polish Customs officials in the Free City. The Polish Foreign Minister, Colonel Beck, says Poland will not tolerate the Senate’s intervention in Customs matters.
If Polish officials are in any way hampered, he will not only further increase their number, but also . order economic reprisals against the Free City. '
