Nazi Reign Of Terror Grips Kladno
LONDON, June 10,
According to the Prague (correspondent of the British United Press something akin to a reign of terror is gripping Kladno, and the Czechs fear the worst.
Only those, who can prove that they are going to work are allowed on the streets between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. An official .statement says all will be instantly shot who know, but do not reveal, the identity of the murderer of Herr Kneist, who has been elevated to the status of a Nazi m'artyr.
Reuter’s Prague correspondent says the partial reconstruction of the Czech Government is likely as a sequel to the murder, but rumours of its resignation are described to bo premature. Punitive Measures Suspended.
It was reported yesterday that a young Czech nurse had voluntarily surrendered to the police in connection with the murder, but this is officially denied. Baron von Neurath has now suspended punitive measures at Kladno.
A Czech policeman was shot dead as the result of a clash between German and Czech police at the frontier town of Nachod. All involved were arrested. The trouble was due to unknown persons firing tot two German policemen. The Czech Premier, M. Elias, called on Herr Frank and expressed regret for the Kladno murder. Ho promised to do everything in his power to arrest Herr Kneist’s murderer.
