Thetis “Fire” No More Than Glow
(Received 11.30 a.m.) ■ LONDON. June 11
Leading-Stoker Arnold, one of the survivors of the Thetis, said that he desired to allay the impression that the fire in the Thetis was anything more than a glow from fused wires and smoke. There was so little oxygen that a match would not have burned.
The Lord Mayor's fund for the dependents of the men lost in the Thetis already amounts to £35,000.
