(Received 3 p.m.) PHILADELPHIA, Juno 11. After the play-olf between the three players who tied with scores of 284, Byron Nelson. Denny Shiite and Craig Wood, the American open golf championship has not been completed. Shute played poorly in comparison with the brilliance of the other pair, and was eliminated with a round ot 76.

Nelson and Wood played remarkable golf for 68. Nelson getting a four at the last hole to tie again with Wood. They will play off tomorrow over 18 holes.

At the final hole today, Wood’s sec-, end shot struck a spectator on the head and knocked him unconscious. The incident unnerved Wood, who had a lead of one stroke when the pair went on the last tee. The Australian, N. von Nida, who played in Whangarei recently, qualified with 152, but, with an aggregate of 306. was hopelessly out of the running.
