Storms Damage Italian Wheat Crops
(Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON. June 2. Torrential rain and hail storms are sweeping the peninsula, says a message from Turin, Northern Italy, greatly damaging the Italian wheat crop, 35,000 acres being already under water. Kaeo Mr E. F. Hills has returned from a visit to Auckland. Mr L. R. Herbert, of the staff of the Kaitafa dairy factory, is home on holiday. Mr H. Moselen, who received a broken collarbone at football, is improving satisfactorily, and in all probability will resume his duties on the Post and Telegraph staff at the end of next week. Queen Carnival. Much interest is being taken in the Queen Carnival which is being arranged in Kaeo to raise funds to build a ladies’ rest room as a Centennial memorial. Nominations close on Wednesday, May 3b, and the candidates will be chosen on the night of June 9 when a carnival ball will be held.
