Dr. \v'a':cr run? c, Reich Minister of Commerce, ivho announces that a new law is to be promulgated which will make the Reichsbank “the banking institute of the nation , and not of the capitalistic system ' Jovial, small and plump, Dr. Funk l is aged 49, and is a friend of General Goering. From 1920 to 1930 he edited the “Boersen Zeitung,” showing enthusiasm for inflation. He became Hitler’s economic adviser in 1930, and was successively promoted Chief ofjhe Reich Press Bureau, 1933; Propaganda Ministry Secretary of State (1933); and Economics Minister after Schacht (1938).
