Oil Search In Taranaki

[Special to ’‘Northern Advocate ” 3 NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day.

Sir Colin Fraser, chairman of directors of the N.Z. Petroleum Company, Ltd., and Taranaki (N.Z.) Oilfields Co., who arrived at New Plymouth yesterday from Auckland, said: “We plan to start drilling here just as soon as the survey is completed.” “We don’t want to repeat our mistakes,” Sir Colin continued. “Present surveys show that sinking two bores where we did at Tarata and Okoke was just throwing money !avvay. When we make a start boring for oil in Taranaki, it will be on a definite location, and not on guesswork, as has been the case so much in the past.” Other oil experts are visiting New Plymouth, Sir Colin Fraser was met by Mr H. Dund'as, of New York, vicepresident of the Vacuum Oil Company, and Mr E G. Martin, New Zealand manager oi the Atlantic Union Oil Co. Also In New Plymouth is Mr K. Gamble, of Melbourne, Australian general manager for the Vacuum Oil Cpmpany.
