A message from Sydney states that Charles Louss, 19, was bitten on two fingers by a death adder at Gosford. He calmly blew off his hand with a shotgun, wrapped his shattered hand in a handkerchief, and walked a mile to hiS home. He then drove 14 miles by car to a doctor. The doctor was of the opinion that but for Louss’s desperate act the bite would have killed him.
Five hundred Spanish troops are reported to be digging trenches and constructing fortifications at La Linea, opposite Gibraltar.
The first agreement implementing the German-Rumanian trade treaty, signed yesterday in Bucharest, provides that Germany will build new forest roads and provide the necessary transport for timber, and plan, establish and equip factories for the mechanical and chemical processing of wood. Rumania agrees to increase her timber exports to Germany.
There is every indication that the first of five of the Vickers-Wclling-ton bombers for New Zealand will leave England early in June, after which similar batches will be despatched at intervals of two months. There is no intention of attempting records, but the journeys will be merely routine delivei'y flights.
