Exhibition Match At Mount Denby

Mr Norman von Nida, the Australian professional golfer, visited Whangarei during the week-end.

An exhibition match was arranged between Von Nida (partnered by S. Clerk) and J. Glanvillo and J. Galloway, the assistant professional at Mt. Dcnby. . All players gave a fine exhibition of the game, and after an even contest, finished all square.

Von Nida showed himself to bo a steady player with good control of all his shots. Playing his irons crisply and firmly, ho seemed to favour a high-flighted ball with plenty of back spin. The Other Players. Of the others. Glanvillo was hitting a long ball from the tees, but could not always control bis direction. Clark could not quite find touch with his clubs, although he played some nice golf in and around the greens. Galloway played an impressive game and was steady throughout, his putting being a feature of the afternoon. His card included two two’s.

Galloway’s score for the round was 73, while Von Nlda was one stroke more with 74.

After the game Von Nida gave an exhibition of various shots.
