Semi-Final Gallops At Ellerslie

The semi-final gallops for horses with engagements at the Waikato meeting on Saturday took place at Ellerslie this morning. The going was holding. Several good trials were, recorded, the best of these being by Tybalt, over half a mile; Fleetwind, over five, furlongs; and Summary and Aero King over six furlongs, while Black Marlin and Adsum went well over a round.
Silver Quex, after running her first three furlongs in 40 1-5 seconds, went on to complete six furlongs in 1.19 2-5. Aero King traversed a similar distance in 1.23, the first three furlongs taking 40 seconds. Fleetwind finished clear of Trevaco and Aero Queen at the conclusion of five furlongs in 1.6 4-5. They ran the first two furlongs in 25 2-5 seconds.
The best half-mile of the morning was credited to Tybalt, who registered 50 1-5 seconds. Boy Lu was under restraint over the last three furlongs of his work, which took 44 1-5 seconds. Tcoley Street left five furlongs behind in 1.9. Alyth got to the end of six furlongs in 1.22, running her last halfmile in 54 4-5 seconds.
After commencing slowly from the six-furlong post, Hopalong traversed his last half-mile in 54 2-5 seconds. Agog and Right Royal wore clear of Land Girl at the end of a round in 1.46 4-5. Surella was going easily to complete the last half-mile of his work in 56 4-5
seconds. Wild Acre went freely over foin furlongs to record 51 2-5 seconds.
Beeswing, after going away steadily from the six-furlong post, completed her last half-mile in 52 2-5 seconds. Summary came home from the sixfurlong post in 1.19, her first three furlongs being covered in 38 3-5 seconds. It was a smart effort. Spinning Wheel was not after time throughout six furlongs in 1.29 2-5, and Golden Spain did a similar task in 1.22 3-5. Mahala was running on nicely at the end of half a mile in 53 3-5 seconds, Jonathan, Valmint and Royal Appellant were in that order at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.20, the first three taking 39-1-5 seconds. There was not a great deal between them at the end. Valspear was going well within himself while running the last six furlongs of his work in 1.25 1-5. taking 41 1-5 seconds for the last Ihrco furlongs. The Jumpers. Black Marlin and Adsum traversed a round in 1.48. Rajanya and Electric Spear gave a good display over four hurdles in the centre. Rajanya impressed for a novice. All Irish and Electric Flash jumped four of the steeplechase fences on the fiat twice. Both horses gave a dashing display.
