The death occurred in Auckland yesterday of Mr James A. Snedden, aged 75. As a young man he was for some years in business in Mangawhare Northland, but the remainder of his life was spent in the drapery trade in Auckland as the founder and director of Snedden’s Ltd. The Minister of Internal Affairs has appointed Mr J. E. Henderson, of the Okaihau Consolidated School, a member of the Bay of Islands’ District Physical Welfare and Recreation Committee. Mr Henderson, who is an old pupil of the Whangarei High School and a University “blue”, was a member of the reporting committee on school games and on the executive of the Auckland Primary Schools’ Amateur Athletic Association. As an executive member of the Auckland Hockey Association, Mr Henderson did much towords the fostering of that game among the city schools, and was the manager of the representative team which did so much good in establishing the importance of hockey 'as a primary school game.
