Marsh—Wright
The Methodist Church, Whangarei, was the scene of a pretty weddingon April 26, when Evelyn, onlydaughter of Mr and Mrs Len Wright, of Otaika, was married to Albert Henry, eldest son of Mr and Mrs T. Marsh, of Maungakaramea. Mr Marsh and his bride are members of two of the oldest and most respected families of the North. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. Tozer, Mrs A’Court presiding at the organ.
The bride entered the church escorted by her father and made a charming picture in her dainty frock of white marquisette net and georgette worn over white taffeta. The frock was fashioned with high neckline bodice finished with soft roll collar and long close fitting sleeves stiffened on shoulders to stand well up. The bouffant skirt of marquisette net was embroidered all over with fine silver bugle beads, the back forming a train, a wide band of the same embroidered net, giving a period effect, being worn round the bodice and low on the shoulders. Her beautiful tulle veil was held by an attractive coronet of opalescent leaves. The veil worn over the face fell from the shoulders in a long train. A silver locket which she wore had been worn by her mother and grandmother on their wedding days. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet of white roses and carnations.
In attendance as bridesmaid was Miss Doreen Lhiey, cousin of the bride, who wore a 80-Peep frock of chiffon over taffeta in a becoming shade of delphinium blue. The full skirt was draped with vertical shirring in six panels.
The draped shirring was repeated in the full puffed sleeves. Blue mittens and blue flowers topping her silver Juliet cap. were worn, and she carried a shower bouquet of pink dahlias and blue delphiniums. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Percy Marsh as best man. Later Mr and Mrs Wright held a reception at the Marble Bar, Mrs Wright receiving her guests wearing a green model frock with matching hat and furs. Her bouquet was of autumn shaded chrysanthemums. Mrs Marsh chose a smart tailored navy costume, with navy and white accessories. She carried a bouquet of red dahlias. Mr and Mrs A. Marsh left op a motoring tour of the south, the bride travelling in a tailored green coat with a hat of the same shade and London tan accessories.
