Registered Nurses Meet At Te Kopuru

A meeting of the North Auckland branch of the New Zealand Registered. Nurses’ Association was held at the Northern Wairoa Hospital, Te Kopuru on Wednesday, Miss Allen, the matron, giving the visiting members a warm welcome. The council met before the general meeting. Present were Miss Swayne, in the chair, Mrs Orr (Kaikohe), Misses Allen, Leslie, Collins, and Mrs A. M. Weeds. It was decided that the branch should record its willingness to cooperate with the authorities in the event of an emergency. The council received with regret the resignation of Miss Kitty Thomas, vicepresident, who has been transferred to Wellington. Miss Swayne spoke of the excellent work and loyalty of Miss Thomas, and expressed regret at the branch losing such a valued member.

It was decided to send a letter of thanks to Miss Thomas and also a book.

At the conclusion of the council meeting, Dr. A. W. Wilkinson, medical superintendent of the Northern Wairoa Hospital, gave to a large audience an interesting lecture on fevers of obscure origin in children. Miss Swayne in thanking the lecturer for the address also expressed great pleasure at seeing the number of nurses present. A hearty vote of thanks to the hostesses who provided afternoon tea, brought an interesting meeting to a close.
