Junior Games At Rugby Park On Saturday

Owing to Kensington Park being occupied by the military camp, no senior Rugby games will be played in Whangarei on Saturday, but junior games will be played on No. 3 and No. 4 grounds of Rugby Park. A sealed path is now available for entrance to these grounds from Alexander Street.

As so many of the junior players are in camp with the No. 1 Composite Mounted Rifles, there will be no junior competition fixtures on Saturday. The fifth grade matches will also be postponed on account of the school holidays. When this competition commences after the holidays, it is anticipated that there will be six teams, Kamo, having dropped from 4th grade to sth, and there is a probability of a sth grade team being entered from Hikurangi. Mother’s Bay Arrangements, It is the annual policy of the union to invite ladies to Rugby matches as the guest of the union on the nearest 1 Saturday to Mother’s Day but, as Kensington Park will not be available this Saturday, this invitation will be extended for Saturday. May 20. The following players were regraded at the meeting of the management committee last night.—Pipiwai Club, B. Armstrong, M. Cocker, G. Hewson. from senior B to junior; Hikurangi I. Hansen, senior to junior; Old Boys, C. Nisbet, junior to third grade; City, A. Mcßae, senior B to junior.

Some players do not seem to understand their obligation under the insurance scheme and are not paying their insurance dues prior to matches. For seniors, senior B’s and juniors, participation in the insurance scheme is compulsory, while in the lower grades players can use their own discretion but if they pay their 1/- a match they are covered under the scheme, otherwise they receive no benefit.
