Kawakawa
Mr. C. W. Boswell, M.P., was the guest of honour at the annual fancy dress ball of the Kawakawa District High School, held in the Soldiers’ Hall. Mr. Boswell, who was headmaster of the school until his election to Parliament as member for the Bay of islands, was the recipient of valedictory gifts from the staff and from the pupils of the secondary department. ; Mr. A. F. Brewer, acting-headmaster, made a presentation on behalf of the staff, and referred to the regard and respect with which the teachers had held Mr. Boswell, .and stated that no staff could ever be under a better or more sympathetic headmaster. i Miss Betty Clifford, senior prefect, made a presentation on behalf of her fellow pupils. In returning thanks, Mr. Boswell said that he was proud of his association with the school, and also of the cordial relations that had existed between himself and the members of the. staff. He paid .a warm tribute to the chairman and members of the school committee, all- of whom had worked loyally and enthusiastically with him in the interests of the children, and declared that no school could fail where there existed such full and friendly co-operation between committee and headmaster.
