OBITUARY

Mr Neil McLean

The death is announced from Wellington of Mr Neil McLean, a brother cf the late Mrs Hugh Ferguson, of Tutukaka, and father of Dr. N. G. McLean, Kaikohe.

Mr McLean was partner in the wellknown contracting firm of John McLean and Sons, a firm which built most of the Wellington wharves and constructed many railways and bridge works and also the Auckland tram-

way system. Fifty years ago Mr McLean was a prominent Rugby footballer in Auckland and represented the province on four occasions, including the match against Stoddart’s English team in 1888.

Ho was also a racing enthusiast and. in conjunction with his brother, raced a number of horses between 1897 and 1902.
