Improved Market At Kamo
Walter Wakelin reports having held his usual weekly sale of cattle and pigs at Kamo yesterday when a good entry of both classes was submitted
to a large attendance of buyers. Dairy cattle sold remarkably well under keen competition, all cattle close to calving selling in the vicinity of £7 Beef and store cattle also improved in price, while an average entry of boner cattle sold at fully scheduled rates. A medium entry of pigs sold readily, weanors and slips improving by 3/ per head.
Quotation's. —Light fat steers, £6; forward steers, £4 5/ to £5; fat Jersey cows, £4 to £5 5/; fat Shorthorn cows, to £5 15/; boner cows, £1 10/ to £3 10/; potter cows, 10/ to £1 5/; boner bulls, £2 10/ to £5 15/; best dairy cows close to profit, £6 10/ to £7 10/; good quality spring calvers, £3 5/ to £5 5/; cows and heifers in milk. £2 10/ to £6; Jersey heifers r.w.p., £2 10/ to £5 10/; Shorthorn heifers r.w.b., £4 to £5 5/; Shorthorn heifer calves, 16/ to £1 5/; two-year mixed coloured steers, £2 5/ to £3 17/; Jersey heifer calves, 15/ to £1 15/; cull lambs, 5/ to £7 II; aged ewes. 5/; two-tooth ewes, 14/.
Pigs.— Baconers, £3 to £3 7/6; heavy porkers, £2 10/ to £3; medium porkers. £2 to £2 8/; light porkers. £1 to £1 12/; stores. 10/ to £1; slips, 10/ to 15/; weaners, 7/ to 11/. breeding sows to £3; choppei's. £1 10/ to £2 12/.
