North Hokianga Football Begins
Rugby football competitions in the North Hokianga commence next Saturday. The union's affairs during the coming season will be in the hands of the following officers appointed at the annual meeting held at Kohukohu recently: Patron, Mr A. C. Yarborough; president, Mr A. A. Potter; secretary, Mr G. Harding; auditor, Mr F. C. Hargrave. Messrs J. W. Julian, G. Harding and R. Ling have been appointed selectoi’s for the senior grade, while Mr R. McFarland will act as the juniors’ selector. Competition promises to be very keen this season, with senior and junior teams entering from five centres, namely Panguru, Kohukohu, Rangiahua, Broadwood and Pawarenga.
The winners of last year’s competition. Broadwood, will be fielding a strong team, but there is every indication by the preparations that have been in evidence that the standard of play will be improved, and it may not be surprising if last year's champions go under this season.
