Young Farmers To Tour Northland

Forty members of Young Farmers’ Clubs in the Bay of Plenty will arrive at Whangarei on June 7 for a tour of Northland.

: . That evening they will be entertained by local clubs. For June 8 Dr. G. Walker has graciously arranged a field day on his Maunu property. In the afternoon, the party will visit the Portland Cement Works, and that evening will debate with the Whangarei Junior Chamber of Commerce. The affirmative on the chosen subject: “That the country serves the community better than the town,” will be taken by the representatives of the Junior Chamber. Reunion At Kaitaia. The party will split into two sections on June 9—one travelling up the east coast and the other proceeding via Dargaville and the kauri forests. There will be a reunion at Kaitaia on Monday, June 12* and a whole day ;will be spent in that district. The party which travelled north via the west coast will then return via the east coast, and vice versa, Whangarei and Dar|aville being reached on June 14.

Details of a tour from Northland to the Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Rotorua districts have also been finalised. The party will leave Whangarei on July 3, and spend a week in the Bay of Plenty prior to attending the rally of Young Farmers’ Clubs, lasting a week at Ruakura.
