Increased Profit For A. And P. 1939 Stock Show
There was an increased profit of £29 11/4 on the 1939 Stock Show of the Whangarei A. and P. Society, as compared with the 1938 figures. Net returns (without bacon) for 1938 amounted to £194 2/4, and for 1939 £224 13/8. The statement balanced at £987 19/-. Advertising expenses were increased by approximately £8 for 1939 compared with the 1938 expenditure. Cartage and freight charges were down £8 last year, though general expenses, fodder and judges’ expenses, were all up.
Trophies accounted for £403 15/1 last year, whilst £372 4/- was spent under this heading in 1938.
Donations for the 1939 show amounted to £125 12/6, compared with £ll7 13/- for 1938, and gate receipts amounted to £455 9/- for 1939 (£394 18/- for 1938).
Income from privileges and space charges was also up for 1939, amounting in all to £lB3 17/6, whereas the receipts under this heading for 1938 amounted to £164 15/-..
