Employment In Britain

LONDON, May 8. The Ministry of Labour estimates that the number of insured persons in employment in Britain on April 17 was approximately 12.511,000 or 108.000 more than a month ago, and on a com parable basis 270,000 more than a year before. At the same date the registered unemployed totalled 1,644.394, comprising 1,343,295 wholly unemployed, 238,729 temporarily laid off, and 62.370, normally in casual employment. This total is 82,535 less than in March and 103,370 less titan in April, 1038.
