Protection Of Toheroas

Efforts are being made to prevent the complete destruction of toheroa beds on the west coast near Dargaville.
A close season of two years has been suggested, and this proposal is being forwarded to the Minister of Marine.
It was decided upon at a special meeting of the Toheroa Advisory Committee.
Another suggestion adopted was that the quantity allowed for each person should be reduced from 50 to 25. Another decision was to suggest to the Minister that breaches of the regulations during this period should be punished by confiscation of the vehicles : in which the toheroas were found. “ Such a provision was contained^,in , the regulations regarding the taking of oysters. • Cocktails for Poultry Strutting roosters and waddling hensr.step right up and demand a cocktail .on the house at the poultry farm of Mrs. Lincoln Warner, of Cedar, lowa (U.S. A.). The cocktails however, are tomato juice. Mrs. Warner claims the bottled sunshine which , she puts up in the autumn keeps her flock free from roup and other disease, and produces hardier chicks.
