Anzac Day Observance In Whangarei

Observance of Anzac Day. April 25. in Whangarei' will follow much the

same lines as in previous years. There will be a service in the Town Hall at 10.30 a.m., when the address will be given by Rev. J. M. McKenzie, E.A., L.LB. Hymns will be played by the Salvation Army Band. Order of Parade. Units participating in the parade will assemble at the Drill Hall at 10 a.m. From there the order of march, via Cameron Street, will be as follows: The Municipal Band, Territorial units, High School cadets, Boy Scouts, Pipe Band, returned soldiers and sisters, and any other organisation parading. The parade will be commanded by Major H. G. Carruth, and the returned soldiers will be under the command of Mr J. A. Wylie. The Municipal Band will lead the parade to the Town Hall. On conclusion of the religious service, the Whangarei and County Pipe Band will play the parade to the

Triangle. ' His Worship the Mayor will take the salute in front of the Post Office as the parade passes to the Triangle. Placing ,cf Wreaths. After the placing of wreaths, the Pipe Band will lead the “March Past” past the War Memorial and on to Cameron Street, where the parade will dismiss. The Municipal Band will play appropriate music during the placing of wreaths, and on conclusion of the “March Past” will render musical selections at the Triangle, The placing of wreaths will be controlled by Sergeant-Major G. C. Andrews. “Reveille” will be sounded by Mr Joe Dobson.
